The Chair's Initiative of Western Governors’ Association Chair and Oregon Governor Kate Brown seeks to achieve an expanded regional agreement on electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the West that will bolster current economies and create a roadmap, both literally and figuratively, to the future.
The Special Report of the Electric Vehicles Roadmap Initiative contains targeted recommendations on federal policy issues that affect public and private investments in EV infrastructure across the West. It also includes an umbrella agreement among states around a shared set of principles regarding EV infrastructure planning and identified a suite of voluntary standards to optimize public and private EV infrastructure investments. The highway is a network of electric vehicle fast charging stations located every 25 to 50 miles along Interstate 5 and other major roadways in British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, and California. The initiative is a collection of projects, funding sources, and partners with the same vision: to provide a network of fast charging stations enabling electric vehicle drivers to make longer trips and travel between cities easier.
Governors from Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2019 to provide a framework for creating an Intermountain West electric vehicle corridor to make it possible to drive an electric vehicle across major transportation corridors in the West. The Regional Electric Vehicle Plan for the West (REV West) is facilitated by the National Association of State Energy Officials.
