Western Governors encourage Congress to expand workforce training and education opportunities by reauthorizing the Higher Education Act.
“To be relevant to a quickly evolving economy, workforce training and education opportunities must be accessible and flexible,” states the letter to House and Senate leadership signed by WGA Chair Hawaii Gov. David Ige and Vice Chair North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum. “Western Governors are hopeful that Congress will thoughtfully update federal higher education programs to better serve students and develop the talent that businesses demand.”
The June 18, 2019 outreach also urges the House Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions and Senate Committee on Education and Labor to examine the Western Governors’ Workforce Development Initiative report and WGA Policy Resolution 2018-13, Workforce Development in the Western United States.
